Ancient History Crete is steeped in history and mythology, home to the legendary Minoan civilization, considered Europe’s oldest. From the ruins of the Palace of Knossos to the Venetian walls of Chania, traces of Crete’s fascinating past are woven into every corner of the island. Walking through ancient sites and historic towns, you can feel the echoes of those who lived here millennia ago, connecting to a deep sense of history and wonder.
Chania’s Old Town Near our retreat lies the enchanting Old Town of Chania, known for its Venetian harbor, narrow alleyways, and vibrant marketplaces. This area is a blend of Greek, Ottoman, and Venetian influences, where pastel-colored buildings line the cobblestone streets. The scents of fresh herbs, handmade soaps, and traditional pastries fill the air, offering a sensory journey through Crete’s rich culture and heritage.
The Aegean Sea The beaches of Crete are renowned for their beauty, with sands ranging from golden to the rare pink hues of Elafonissi.
